Twisp Valley Grange #482
Minutes – Aug 9, 2017
We valiantly tried to start our meeting in a timely way -& came close after a very social social hour. Secretary read May and June minutes. They were approved.
Treasurer report: Billie gave Reports for June and July. Rentals have been up for the summer. The new Methow at Home SAIL class has been passing on all of the donations that come in. Billie & Marie have talked it over – Wendy will clarify our rental arrangement.
Secretary report -Our “Lawn” on the side and back is looking much better due to Val’s weedwacking efforts. Thank You Val.
Remember to think of Volunteer Methow as a resource when we need extra help.
Two suggestions –
we need to be more clear who is in charge of whatever events we are hosting. One recent example was the Bike Group in that stayed overnight on Aug. 2nd. It wasn’t until a few days before they arrived that we got organized. But, thanks to Judy we put on a very nice dinner and breakfast.
we should address once again -our policy for active membership discounts. Will add to future agenda when there is time.
Fundraisers – Pancake Breakfast coming up this Saturday. It is planned to coincide with the alumni reunion. Billie suggests using our farm decorations on the tables. Val has offered to make Gluten Free Pancakes to see how they are received.
Suggestion for the Good of the Order: Website – still trying to get it going. Garry’s offer to host for free is still on the table. Wendy is waiting for Lars to transfer the domain name of Twisp Grange to her. He has paid $9 a year for 10 years. Motion made to reimburse Lars @100 for his time and expense. Motion passed unanimously .Garry will assist in setting up a simple website that will enable us to have an online calendar of rental dates.
We have started the planning process for this year’s booth for the county fair. The theme is “seventy years of pride – county wide”. The brainstorming went towards a focus on farming through the decades. The next planning meeting will be Wed. Aug 16 – 3pm @ the grangehall.
New: Terry and Wendy attended a seminar for organizations that would like to participate in this years NCWCF ‘Give Methow’ campaign. We need to select a project that our grange would utilize the donations for. The deadline for this is Sept 15th.
The two main contenders are – 1) refinishing the upstairs floor and 2) a wheelchair lift to make the basement accessibile.
The recent bid we have for sanding and putting four coats of a commercial traffic finish is $9,000. After a lot of discussion – Motion was made to select our project for this year the floor refinishing. Motion was approved, but did not pass unanimously — one member favoring the wheelchair lift. The concensus is to move onto the basement accessibility as soon as possible.
Meeting adjourned at 8 pm with 7 sisters present.
Respectfully submitted ………..Wendy Braden
